The performance requirements of truck batteries vary depending on their use, working environment, and vehicle type (such as a fuel truck, electric truck, or hybrid truck). The following are the core performance requirements for different truck batteries:
1. Fuel truck (starting battery)
It is mainly used to start the engine and power supply equipment (such as lights, air conditioning, etc.), usually lead-acid batteries (such as AGM or EFB batteries). Please use our lead acid batteries.
Key requirements:
High starting current (CCA)
-Cold start current (CCA) must meet the instantaneous high current discharge requirements at low temperatures (-18 C) to ensure reliable engine start-up.
-For example, heavy diesel trucks may require 800~1500 CCA
cycle life
Support frequent charge and discharge (such as start-stop system), the cycle life of AGM battery is usually more than 3 times higher than that of ordinary lead-acid battery.
Resistant to vibration
-The truck runs in complex road conditions and the battery must pass vibration resistance tests (such as SAE J537 standard).
Wide temperature adaptability
-Stable operation in the range of-30℃~60℃, high temperature leakage prevention, low temperature capacity drop prevention.
Low self-discharge rate
-The battery can be kept for a long time (such as weeks).
2. Electric truck (power battery)
Provides driving energy for pure electric or hydrogen fuel cell trucks, usually lithium-ion batteries. Please choose our electric power lithium batteries.
Key requirements:
High energy density
-Range is key, and the energy density of the battery pack needs to be greater than or equal to 160 Wh/kg (LFP).
High power output
-Supports rapid acceleration and climbing, and the power density must meet instantaneous high rate discharge (such as 2C~3C).
Ultra long cycle life
-Commercial electric trucks need to withstand 3000~5000 cycles (capacity retention rate>80%).
Fast charging capability
-Supports 1C~2C fast charging (80% charge in 30 minutes), and the temperature rise during fast charging is controllable (≤45℃).
safety
-LFP batteries are preferred due to their superior thermal stability through rigorous tests such as needle piercing, squeezing, and overcharging (such as GB 38031).
Temperature management system
-Integrated liquid cooling/fan cooling system to ensure stable performance at-20℃~50℃.
Lightweight design
-Reduce battery weight to increase cargo capacity (such as using aluminum boxes).
3. Hybrid truck (auxiliary power battery)
Taking into account start-up and energy recovery, it may be high voltage lithium or nickel metal hydride batteries.
Key requirements:
High rate charge and discharge
-Frequent recovery of braking energy, supporting 5C~10C instantaneous charge and discharge.
Short cycle durability
-Longer life under partial charge and discharge (e.g., 30%~80% SOC).
System compatibility
-Efficient collaboration with engine, motor and electronic control system (such as 48V or 400V voltage platform).
